II recently performed the following and am happy with
the result..... I now have now turned my EVO into a Wireless Hotspot for free without paying Sprint $30 per month. Android
is very very cool......
1st - Goto Menu>Settings>Applications and Check Unknown Sources
and download the App. It's a root App that is Fast and Free. Just take defaults and hit OK until done.
3rd - Open Internet on your Phone and goto: http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list and
select wireless tether 2.0.5 pre2.apk Install with defaults saying Ok until done.
You are done
and it should now work fine... Your EVO is now a Hotspot for free.....
Goto Apps>Wireless Tether click, and Wireless Tether will start. When it does hit Menu>Setup and you can
setup the password and change the SSID.
You'll be happy
with the money saving result....
This is
why I can't give up the EVO. It reminds me too much of a PC and the open standards. There is so much potential for this phone
when there are very talented Developers out there.
