How Internet Traffic
Moves
The Internet Global traffic
that moves through the Internet to the destination, is similar to a planet-wide HUGE freeway that has billions of vehicles
going this way and that way....just as the IP (Internet Protocol) packets traverse the Internet's vast number of cables that inner-connect giant ISPs, Phone
company networks, and IXPs (Internet Exchange Points) and ROUTERS that are enterprise level.......just
as a freeway or fast thoroughfare has many on-ramps and off-ramps and routes, the Internet has millions of Gateways, Routers,
Switches, Brides, and Hubs....as the global planet-wide freeway (or autobahn) has millions of vehicles, with passengers, the
IP data packets that go this way and that way on the Internet has a
like "payload"...it's the data that goes to
YOU, the "host" or user, from the origin, the Server.....let's examine this analogy further...
Remember that the International
"language" of the Internet (of which the World Wide Web, or, www, is just one segment, though very large,
of the Internet's ecosphere) so, remember that the Internet's language is TCP/IP (transport
control protocol/Internet protocol) and the routers are like signs on the autobahn that direct the traffic this way and that
way...towards the final destination for the IP datagram, or, in
the case of the autobahn analogy, the final stopping point...

Just as the Internet carries the TCP/IP data packets, the autobahn
traffic carries vehicles....the IP packet that goes from the source to the destination carries
a data "payload"...this is equivalent to the actual person in the vehicle....or a payload in a truck...

Again staying with our equivalence
of the so-called Global Autobahn and its similarity to the way the Internet IP traffic traverses
the Internet, we see that there are on-ramps and off-ramps....you know what they are in the Autobahn...getting off and onto
the travel-lanes on the Autobahn....the semblance to Internet traffic is the lower layer of the TCP/IP stack, the physical layer...or, the MAC (media access control) or, simply Ethernet...which is run
by 99% of the planet's LAN (local area network)......so we see that when data leaves your Tablet PC or smartphone
or Laptop or wired PC, it goes to the "on-ramp" to the Internet...it leaves your NIC
(network interface card) and then travels through the Internet's routers, gateways, switches,
bridges and hubs...to eventually get onto the the Internet' backbone...the superfast throughput
bi-ways...in the orders of trillions of bits per second....and eventually to the destination...the Internet Server that'
will present you (your browser) the resource you want...a real-time Video, a file, a RRS
feed, etc....even a facebook presentation of your person of interest....yes, it's all done in a mere fraction of a second....even
if it's from a Server in Silicon Valley and a Cleit (or, host, i.e., YOU)...based in Pakistan....

Let us not overlook an important
factor in our analogy-analysis of the likeness between Global Internet Traffic methods and our so-called Global Autobahn with
billions of vehicles, tracks, racecars, sportscars, buses, big-time
payload carriers (12 wheel trucks)......like criminals, drunk drivers, teen boys carrying on when travelling the Autobahn,
the Internet has its share of evil makers.....such as spammers, Trojan horse designers, Distributed
Denial of Service playboys, and even "bots" that go around making trouble on peer-to-peer networks that bypass the
"normal" protocols.....and fool you...and me...and even Microsoft...but never Google, though....
And, of course, we have the closeness
between VPN (virtual private network) and tunnels on the Autobahn....and "tunneling"
in the Cloud...
On this "virtual"
global Autobahn, there are of course Breakdowns....as during an Internet http session they'll be corrupted data, non-sequential
datagrams, and missing bits and even bytes....not forgetting broker router ports.....
Moving on with our investigation
of Internet traffic mechanisms and Autobahn traffic.....we can not overlook the fact that there are Bridges on the Autobahn...and
Bridges and Hubs on the Internet's pathways to the Internet's
backbone...the main "thoroughfare" of the Traffic's journeys from-to the Client (i.e., YOU using a laptop
or smartphone or Tablet PC) to the Server...those devices that present our and our Browsers
with the resources we requested (as a Client)....
We have large payloads on
the Autobahn...and we have "Jumbo" IP data packets with enormous payloads that are
encapsulated with the IP datagram....
Of course, every Client request
to a Server ends up as a 2-way session with the host-client (you, the user pc) talking in TCP-IP language to the Server providing the data (Video, image, text,
links, etc) has one goal...to get to the destination...i.e., what the Client PC (user) wanted in the first place....many,
many of the Client request successfully end up at their destination....which is http://www.clear-cloud.com/
